How to Care for Your SureSmile® Aligners

Your SureSmile® Aligners are hard at work—gently and precisely moving your teeth into ideal alignment. But for them to function properly (and stay clear), they require the right daily care.
Rinse Often
Each time you remove your aligners, rinse them with lukewarm water to wash away saliva and reduce bacteria buildup. Avoid using hot water—it can distort the plastic and compromise fit.
Brush Gently
Use a soft-bristled toothbrush (different from your regular toothbrush) and mild, unscented soap to brush your aligners at least once a day. Skip the toothpaste—it may scratch the aligner’s surface and leave them cloudy.
Deep Clean Regularly
Once or twice a week, soak your aligners in a clear aligner cleaning solution or a denture-safe cleaner. This helps eliminate odor-causing bacteria and keeps your trays fresh and transparent.
Store Them Safely
Always place your aligners in their case when not in use. Don’t wrap them in a napkin—they could easily get thrown away or damaged.
Avoid Staining
Remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water. Drinks like coffee, wine, or tea can stain the plastic, making them much more visible.
“Caring for your aligners is as important as wearing them consistently,” says Dr. Barry Glaser, orthodontist and aligner therapy expert.
Taking proper care of your SureSmile® Aligners protects your investment and ensures they stay clean, clear, and effective—helping you move closer to the smile you’ve always wanted.
Clean aligners help protect your smile—let them do their job at their best.
